Welcome to my ideal library! Rule #1 You can write in the books. Write in the margins, underline what stands out to you, share your thinking and feelings. There is something special about reading another’s thoughts. My current library book has some underlining and had some writing. It has been erased. I squint to make sense of the faint trace of a strangers thoughts. I stop and reflect on why they underlined that part. What were they thinking here? What was so important that had to be written? I feel connected to this person in some way. I am having conversations with them even though we’ve never met. They show me things I might not have noticed. This stranger is my teacher, friend, my book club member that is always available when I am.
